No Annual Fee Promo: Get Up to P12,000 Welcome Gift

UnionBank has announced a Welcome Gift Promo for new principal credit card applicants who apply for select cards during the promo period. This article provides a detailed overview of the eligibility requirements, the specific welcome gifts tied to each card, and the necessary card usage to qualify for the offer.

Promo Duration and Eligibility

The promotion is active from February 1, 2025 to December 31, 2025. To be considered eligible, applicants must meet several conditions, primarily focusing on being new customers to UnionBank and Citi credit cards.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be a principal UnionBank credit card applicant.
  • Must not have an existing principal credit card issued by UnionBank and/or Citi, and must not have held one in the last six (6) months before application.
  • Must apply for the UnionBank Reserve, Miles+, Rewards, or Cash Back credit card within the promo period.
  • Application must be received with complete documents and requirements by UnionBank within the promo period.
  • Application must be successfully approved within the promo period.

Welcome Gift Details and Spend Requirements

Qualified applicants must meet a specific spend requirement within sixty (60) days from the card approval date (the “Spend Period”) to receive their corresponding Welcome Gift. The required spend and the associated gift depend on the card type approved:

If an applicant is approved for multiple cards within the same promo period, the Welcome Gift will be awarded only for the card with the highest position, following this priority order: 1) Reserve, 2) Miles+, 3) Rewards, and 4) Cash Back.

Excluded Transactions

It is important to note that certain types of transactions will not count toward meeting the required spend. These exclusions include:

  • Cash advances (local or international).
  • Transactions related to stock trading, foreign exchange trading, financial trading services, remittances, and similar activities.
  • Transactions from casinos, gambling, or gaming (including online gambling, horse/dog racing, and betting).
  • In-house installment availments like Balance Transfer, Charge for Cash, and Retail Conversion.
  • Fees and charges (e.g., annual fees, interest, late charges, cash advance fees, overlimit fees, gaming/cryptocurrency/quasi-cash fees, and insurance payments).
  • Purchases for business transactions such as direct or multi-level marketing and merchants engaged in wholesale and distribution.
  • Transactions that are subsequently cancelled or refunded.

Fulfillment of the Welcome Gift

Once the Spend Requirement is met, the qualified cardholder will receive an SMS confirmation of their eligibility within thirty (30) business days.

Fulfillment specific to the gift type:

  • Miles (UnionBank Miles+): Miles will be available for redemption within thirty (30) business days of meeting the spend requirement. These miles can be used for redeeming cash credits, merchandise, gadgets, and points transfers to International Frequent Flyer Programs.
  • eGift (UnionBank Reserve and Cash Back): The eGift promo code will be sent to the cardholder within thirty (30) business days. The redemption can be done through Giftaway in denominations of P500 up to the total eGift amount. Cardholders should be aware that the promo code is valid for inputting into the redemption link for sixty (60) business days after receipt, and the resulting eGift code(s) from Giftaway are valid for one (1) year from the cardholder's receipt.
  • No Annual Fee (UnionBank Rewards): Confirmation via SMS will be sent within thirty (30) business days. Fulfillment of the No Annual Fee Welcome Gift will take place at the end of the promo period.

Terms and Conditions

Cardholders who receive the Welcome Gift must keep their card active and in good standing for a holding period of at least twenty-four (24) months from the card approval date. If the account is cancelled during this period, the cardholder will be charged an amount equivalent to the cost of the Welcome Gift.

This promo cannot be used in conjunction with other UnionBank Credit Card acquisition promos. The welcome gift is not convertible to cash or any other form.
